YOstrong = YOrising

As participants in society, we tend to find comfort in routine. We like to eat our meals at the same time, drive to work following the same route, and engage in the same social events. With an additional focus on our health and wellness, we yogis build our schedules around our favorite teachers, our favorite class times, and even our favorite spots in the studio. While there are numerous benefits to structure and habit, there are times that we have no choice but to stray. The challenge, then, is finding a way to be comfortable outside of our comfort zone.

For the YO community, the past few weeks have been anything but structured. While we wait for our beautiful home to be rebuilt, we have jumped around to new spaces, toyed with different schedules, and faced abundant uncertainty. We have been forced out of our routines and into a zone of discomfort – not at all in our yoga itself but rather in the lack of calmness and ease to which we had grown accustomed. Discomfort, though, is not inherently negative. Discomfort forces growth. Discomfort promotes innovation. Discomfort improves resilience.
