What are chakras?
The chakras are wheels of energy that relate to the five elements: Earth, water, fire, air and space. They have a profound effect on a person’s physical, emotional and energetic well-being.
In this seven-class series, you’ll explore how issues of the different chakras manifest and come into balance. Each week, you’ll practice yoga postures and guided meditations that purify a specific chakra. You’ll not only improve strength and flexibility but also change your perception as you discover your true nature.
Root Chakra: Muladhara
Just as the earth is the foundation upon which all life rests, the Muladhara chakra is the base of the chakra system. It governs survival and the way a person manages their daily life through family roles, occupation and finances.
When the root chakra is imbalanced, you’ll feel either fearful and anxious or lethargic and depressed. The workshop will begin with grounding asana, focusing on standing poses that help you develop stability. Practice a guided meditation at the end of class to relax and realign the root chakra.
